From their very existence, Liverpool have kept with one name throughout the club’s storied history. The Reds took their name from their city and are nicknamed from their iconic strips.

John Houlding established Liverpool in 1892 following a dispute with the committee that ran Everton at the time. The businessman was the club’s president and also owned the land that Anfield sits on. But as the dispute reached its peak, he split from Everton and built Liverpool.

Anfield has been the home stadium of Liverpool since the football club’s formation in 1892. The Reds also celebrated their 125th anniversary in 2017 by commemorating Houlding with a bronze bust outside of the stadium. Works are also currently underway to increase its capacity.

Liverpool moved from their long-time training ground at Melwood to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Kirkby in November 2020. The club’s move to a new complex also brought together the first-team and academy at the same facility. The Kirkby site reportedly cost the Reds £50m to build.

Liverpool current league
