Dominik Szoboszlai has now outlined the one thing he would like to change at Anfield to make Liverpool’s start to the season ‘even nicer’ ahead of facing West Ham United.

The Reds welcome the Hammers to Merseyside on Sunday aiming to uphold their unbeaten start to the term. Jurgen Klopp has overseen five wins and one draw over Liverpool’s first six fixtures. Only Chelsea on the opening day of the season have denied the Reds a win thus far.

Liverpool drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge before winning in each of their following four Premier League games. The Anfield natives also started their Europa League campaign with a win on Thursday night. But the Reds failed to keep what would have been their second clean sheet.

Liverpool remain unbeaten despite their defensive record

Only at home to Aston Villa when Liverpool won 3-0 at the start of September have the Reds kept a clean sheet this season. They have conceded one goal in all five of their other fixtures so far this term. Klopp’s team even fell behind after conceding the first goal in four matches.

AFC Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Wolves and LASK each took the lead in their meetings with Liverpool. Antoine Semenyo also put the Cherries in front in the opening three minutes at Anfield. While Wolves forward Hwang Hee-Chan scored after seven minutes at Molineux.

Szoboszlai believes it would be ‘nicer’ if the Reds scored first

Now, Szoboszlai claims it would be nice if Liverpool were the team taking the lead first in the Reds’ fixtures. Only against Chelsea when Luis Diaz scored first and against Aston Villa when Klopp’s team kept a clean sheet have the Merseyside natives broken the deadlock this term.

“I’m confident anyway all the time,” Szoboszlai told the Liverpool website. “But of course, as we win the games and we can turn the games in our way, it gives us even more confidence.

“It would be even nicer if we don’t go 1-0 down and then we need to get up. If we score the first goal, it’s a little bit easier. But if we have to do it like this then we are going to do it like this. We just need to be focused [and] we just need to be ready for everything.”

The visit of West Ham to Anfield on Sunday could present Liverpool with the chance to make Szoboszlai’s desires real. David Moyes’ team have not kept a clean sheet so far this term and have conceded eight goals over six games. But they have only conceded the first goal once.
